Hi,

I couldn't help to notice that the downloads section has a "v5.0 RTM released on Feb 14, 2013" listed as stable release. This supposedly "Includes ASP.NET MVC 5, Web API 5, and Web Pages 3 RTM release."

So, where is it? Why can't I find anything about it anywhere else?

Hi there,

That was just a mistake on our part - thank you for letting us know! We created the v5 RTM milestone so that we could place bugs in that milestone. And because the RTM release will be a stable/release build, we marked it as such. But it's of course not yet even released! For now I have marked that release as a "Beta" just so that it isn't as confusing on CodePlex.

Thanks,
Eilon

Do you know of a target for when it will come out of beta? Is there an organized beta test?

Sorry for chomping at the bit - can someone please assist us with our planning.

Is MVC 5 RTM and Web API 2 RTM going to coincide with Windows 8.1 launch on the 17th of October?

Even a private message email with an answer will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Hi Jaans,

The RTM releases of MVC 5 and Web API 2 will coincide with the RTM release of Visual Studio 2013 and are not directly tied to the release of Windows 8.1.

The release dates of the products appear to be similar based on information in this article: http://visualstudiomagazine.com/articles/2013/09/30/microsoft-announces-vs-2013-pricing.aspx
"Microsoft pointed out on the blog that having an MSDN Subscription is the most popular method of buying Visual Studio. They'll also get the benefit of first access to the gold bits of Visual Studio 2013, to be available in mid-October. Volume Licensers will get access on Nov. 1, and retailers will have it soon after that, according to the blog."
Thanks,
Eilon

And in case anyone missed it - this is all now RTM!

You can read more about it on ScottGu's blog post:

The RTM packages are all on http://www.nuget.org/ .

Thanks,
