I just noticed that IActionMethodSelector is an internal interface which means that we cannot provide custom action method selectors. 

Is this gonna stay that way forever or is this something temporary?

Right, it's nearly impossible to write a custom action selector for Web API today. This is definately on our radar to fix for vNext.
